Welcome!
Today is 17 May 2024, and I’m launching my newsletter on the day after my graduation from Saint Mary’s University!
I am both delighted and relieved to confirm that I have a new title: Doctor of Philosophy in International Development Studies!
If you’ve found me here, then you probably know that since September 2017, I have lived between Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and Nairobi, Kenya, as I have been working on my doctoral degree. In fact, if you’re finding me here today, you’re likely one of my dear friends, one of my current or former Sustainability students, a fellow writer, or a fellow coffee professional.
I’ve been planning this newsletter and Substack for awhile now, because I want to bring together my global community of writers and coffee professionals in a more intentional platform.
For many reasons — not the least which is a dear former colleague of mine now works for Substack! — this is the perfect venue.
Today’s post will be brief, but my newsletter is for you if you:
—drink coffee or any other beverage that comes from an agricultural crop (tea, wine, orange juice, whiskey, beer, tequila, hot chocolate, and so much more!);
—enjoy reading stories about people around the world;
—write for your own pleasure, or for a living, especially if you — like me — are working on the manuscript of your first book.
So — for everyone who drinks, reads, and writes: join me here for content focused on storytelling and sustainability.
Because by exploring the stories of our drinks, we may find something of the stories of ourselves—and one another.
WELCOME!
